Providence Canyon State Park

I stumbled across Providence Canyon when someone tagged it in a location and I started looking at pictures. It was so beautiful and different than our usual waterfall and greenery hikes that we go on. It is literally nicknamed "Georgia's Little Grand Canyon." It is located in Lumpkin,Georgia and we drove four hours to get to it. It was totally worth it and I am about to tell you why!

1.) It Can be a One Day Road Trip

The drive is only four hours away from where I live and it was worth the drive. We drove two hours Friday night and camped out at Wind Creek State Park. Then, we woke up early and drove the rest of the way. It could totally be a one day trip though if you don't want to camp or mind driving a few hours.

2.) It is Beautiful!

There are five different canyons and each of them are different from one another. Each of them are beautiful. I suggest going to Canyons 4 and 5 first. They were the prettiest and we went to them last and it ended up regretting it because we did not get many pictures there. We were too dirty, hot, and sweaty by the time we got to it. The views are breathtaking! You can look from the canyon floor and they have overlooks at the top where you can look down, too!

3.) It Can be an Easy, Medium, or Hard Hike

You can choose three options for the hike. You can walk straight downhill to the canyon floors and at all canyons with no hiking or climbing, and then walk back up and drive to the overlooks. We chose the "White Trail" which is not a a hard hike, but it a little longer and it takes you uphill and you walk along the over looks and can see all the canyons from the top. Also, they have some pretty cool old abandoned decaying cars that you can look at on the trail. Then, there is a "Red Trail" that is seven miles long and high terrain.

4.) It Wasn't Too Crowded

We were able to look around and take some cool pictures. I never felt like it was too crowded on the trails or while looking at the canyons! It is dog friendly, too!

Tips:

1.) Wear shoes and clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Also, you have to walk through a little stream of water. It doesn't cover your shoes but if you splash you may get your feet a little wet.

2.) If you have a real camera, take it! There a lot of picture opportunities!

3.) Go to the Omaha Brewing Company nearby. It was so cute and they had a local band playing, an art gallery event, and a food truck there! The workers were so nice, too. We were so happy we decided to stop!
